Operation Gratitude – Candy Buy Back 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CASH FOR CANDY!
Local Dentist Takes a Stand Against Sweets this Halloween
— Earn cash for your candy and support a soldier —
10/6/2014 – One local dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Advanced Dental Care of Springfield and receive $1 per pound. Dr. Matt VanderMolen and his team have joined the movement to reduce gingivitis and anti-decay by giving away dollars, prizes, and local favors in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.
“Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. VanderMolen. “Sure, they can have a few treats on Halloween night and maybe even keep a couple more for later in the week. But we’ll take the rest of it and pay them for it! Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. “
“Our dental practice chose to participate in the Halloween Candy Buy Back to help parents who want to limit the amount of damage that can be done to their children’s teeth. We want to encourage and teach preventative care and healthy habits, while supporting our troops overseas,” says Dr. VanderMolen.
Kids should still dress up, go out, have fun, and yes, even eat some candy. But after picking out the best of their stash, they will probably have about 10 pounds left, and nobody needs that much candy!
Global sugar consumption for kids increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be sure their kids teeth are being cared for more than ever. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken and damaged braces.
Candy will be collected at Advanced Dental Care of Springfield on Saturday, November 1st, the day after Halloween, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The candy will then be shipped to Operation Gratitude in California where it will be sorted and repackaged and then distributed to troops serving our country overseas. Each child is eligible to receive $1 per pound, up to a five (5) pound limit, for all unopened, uneaten candy. We also encourage the children to draw pictures and/or write letters or notes to include in the packages to our troops.
Plus, there will be door prizes as well as a raffle of items donated by local businesses!
Dr. VanderMolen and his team at Advanced Dental Care of Springfield work hard to raise public awareness of the benefits of healthy eating and great dental hygiene and they offer affordable and convenient dental care to Springfield and surrounding areas. Dental Implants – Springfield IL – An Overview
August 23, 2014
Dental implants are prosthetic devices that are placed into the jaw to replace a missing tooth. Losing teeth can have devastating effects. It results in lack of confidence while smiling and affects social interactions in general. Lost teeth can also have detrimental effects on long term oral and medical health. Missing teeth often lead to selection of easily chewable foods, hence deprivation from some of the healthiest foods.
Dental implants provide a biocompatible surface to secure a cosmetic tooth and provide long term stability. Dental implants restore the natural smile as well as confidence of a person.
Dental implants are basically used for two purposes:
- An anchor for an artificial tooth replacement for single or multiple teeth
- An anchor to support another removable dental prosthesis such as dentures or crowns.
Most of the dental implants are made of pure or grade-five titanium. Grade-five titanium contains 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium and is stronger and more fracture resistant than pure titanium.
Some Benefits of Dental Implants:
- Carry out normal life: Dental implants are fixed in place so you do not have to worry about your teeth slipping or falling out while swimming, skiing or any other activity.
- Improves looks: Dental implants improve your facial features and feel just like your normal teeth.
- Improves speech and comfort: Dental implants are more comfortable than removable dentures.
- No alteration: In the case of dental implants, adjacent teeth are not altered.
- Normal chewing: They reduce the stress exerted on the adjoining teeth as it absorbs most of the load present with normal chewing.
- No noise: They are free from any wobbles or annoying clicks that you may get in dentures.
Dental implants are the excellent and permanent solution to the problem of lost teeth. Dr. VanderMolen and Advanced Dental Care of Springfield are your best choice for Dental Implants. We have the experience you need! Contact us at (217) 717-4551 or info@smilespringfield.com
How Will I Feel During My Sedation Dentistry Procedure?
August 9, 2014
When it comes to getting a dental procedure done, sedation dentistry is a unique alternative. The dental care practice in which patients are sedated before a dental procedure is performed is known as sedation dentistry. There are many people who suffering from anxiety disorders, dental anxiety and other issues that cause them to refrain from visiting the dentist or undergoing any dental procedure. For these patients as well as those awaiting long procedures, Sedation Dentistry is a great solution.
sedation dentistry in springfield ilSedation dentistry allows patients to feel fully comfortable while a dentist provides them treatment. In sedation dentistry, a variety of sedation techniques are used by dentists. Depending on the sedatives the dentists use, patients are able to feel euphoric or happy once they have been sedated for a dental procedure to be carried out. The sedatives basically suppress the stress reactions that are associated with dental phobias and help allow the patients to remain calm through the procedure.
Patients also experience a relaxing and soothing sensation throughout their body once they have been sedated. This way, anxiety is removed and the patient’s mouth is numbed so the patients do not have to worry that they might experience pain while the dental procedure is being carried out. While patients will not completely go unconscious, a sleepy feeling is stimulated by the sedatives. This way, patients do not feel distressed about what is happening to them, and this allows the dentist to carry out a dental procedure carefully, effectively and quickly.
Thus, under certain circumstances, sedation dentistry is not only beneficial for patients but for the dentist as well. Both the dentist and the patient are able to avoid any sort of discomfort because of how relaxed the environment becomes once the patient has been sedated. Dentists are also able to concentrate better on their work they are doing if they are dealing with a highly anxious patient.
Keeping the teeth healthy is necessary and that is why it is important to visit the dentist regularly. Dr. VanderMolen has the experience you need in a Sedation Dentist. At Advanced Dental Care of Springfield, they can answer all the questions you have. Dental Implants a Superior Alternative
July 28, 2014
Tooth loss can make a distinct difference in your smile. Patients have many options for replacement including bridges, but Dental Implants provide the most natural alternative.
Dental implants can be the solution to all such problems as they
- Replace one or more teeth.
- Remain fixed in the specific site of placement.
- Do not drop down or click like dentures.
- Are extremely natural looking.
- Function just like natural teeth.
- Have a success rate of 95%.
- Have no detrimental effects on adjacent healthy teeth.
Dental implants are unique in the way they fuse with the jawbone, as they are able to derive complete support from the jawbone instead of deriving support from the neighboring teeth. They last longer than other tooth replacement options. In addition, they keep the bone strong, saving you from sunken cheeks due to tooth loss and bone loss.
